Now that you’ve trained your ear to track syllable timing, your next task is to practice attending in this way with real speech that is not looped.
Go to youtube and find a video of native speakers speaking your language, slow it down, then try to focus your attention to catch the beginning of each syllable. Stop playback every couple of syllables and try to echo what you heard with your hand.
Then once you’ve done that enough times, let the whole thing play and try to keep track of the syllables as you go along. This technique is very effective at opening up listening comprehension if done correctly for enough focused practice time.
