Reviewing the phoneme inventory from the perspective of place of articulation is a very useful exercise. It teaches you to organize speech by its physiological first principles (rather than arbitrary abstractions like the alphabet).
As you go through the word lists, practice mimicking every aspect of the speaker’s articulation, including melody.
