We break the still vowels down into three subcategories - primary, secondary and rounded. Primary vowels are the most common vowels in all languages. The secondary vowels are to be related to the primary ones - slightly different tongue positions. Then the rounded vowels are rounded lips while your tongue is in the front of the mouth, which is unnatural for english speakers at first.
