Phonemes are the basic building blocks of speech. For any given language, there is a finite set of phonemes that combine to make every possible utterance in the language.
In this lesson, you will do a quick audit of all the phonemes in your target language. Many of these phonemes will be easy for you to the pronounce, as they also exist in your first language.
But many will be new articulations for you, and thus give your ears, mouth and brain a bit of difficulty. Be sure to take note of which phonemes challenge you, so you can focus your attention on them later.
But don’t spend too much time trying to practice here. In the next lessons, we will dive deep into each phoneme and you will learn everything you need to know on how to articulate them.
For now, just familiarize yourself with the inventory of your target language, then share in

which phonemes you found the most challenging to mimic. After you’ve audited all the phonemes of your language, move on to “Vowels” to go in depth on those set of phonemes in your language.
